Spinervals are helping me get in shape during the week

I bought the Spinervals 9.0 Have Mercy DVD last month, and have started training with it during the week. It's a 2-hour compilation of the hardest exercises from all the other Spinervals DVDs, and it's a killer workout. I can't make it all the way through quite yet, but I'll get there soon!

I usually get home from work at about 6:00 pm, and it's still too dark to ride by then. I get the kids down by 8:00 and then there's time to hook up my bike on the trainer and pedal away some pounds for an hour or so.

Having a DVD to watch really helps pass the time - it's much more exciting than pedaling by yourself in your garage! And it helps you build confidence in your abilities.

When you're out on the road and miles from home, you're thinking "do I have enough energy left to really push hard on this hill, and still make it home"? But when you're at home on the trainer you can push harder than usual - after all, you can always hop off the bike and rest for a while and not have to worry about limping home.

The Spinervals DVDs also help you with your cycling technique, such as pedaling in smooth circles and taking advantage of the upward pulling motion as well as the down strokes. Think of your pedaling motion as wiping mud off the bottom of your shoes with each revolution.

Sure, you'll always be stronger with the legs on the down strokes, but you can gain an extra 20 or 30 percent on the upward pulls (which will really help you up the hills)!
