Where the Blubber Meets the Road

I’m back in the saddle this week after about 3 weeks of down time – for various reasons including Christmas, New Years, terrible weather and too much overtime at work. I ate WAY too much fudge during those 3 weeks, and had a lot less self control with food in general.

Frank and I hit the gym this morning for a spinner ride, and I snuck over to the scales for a quick weight in. I am up 3 pounds on top of the 10 more I wanted to lose last year. Sad

It’s definitely time to kick my butt in gear and start pedaling off those pounds! It only takes 500 fewer calories a day to lose a pound a week, since there are roughly 3,500 calories per pound.

I set up my bike on the trainer in the garage last night, and plan to knock out a quick 30-minute workout each night while it continues to rain outside. That should burn about 430 calories according to this handy calorie burner calculator. And I usually get in at least a 2 hour ride each weekend, which will burn another whopping 1700 calories!

Cutting down to one cup of coffee a day will save me another 70 calories from the milk I put in each cup, and there’s my 500 a day reduction in caloric intake.

I should easily be down to my target weight by the end of March, and should be feeling like a million bucks by then as well. Frank had better kick it in gear too or I’ll be leaving him behind on the hills! Sticking out tongue
